Monday saw both schools that call Fort Dodge home in action on the hardwood. The Dodgers were swept on the road at WDM-Valley. In the girls game The Dodgers stayed with  the defending state champs and only trailed 8-6 after the 1st quarter. Valley would dominant the rest of the way, outscoring the Dodgers 23-12 in the 2nd Quarter and 34-17 in the 2nd half including a 24-5 4th quarter. Valley would hit 13 3’s in the game, 10 of them coming in the 2nd half. Tory Bennett led the Dodgers with 11, Aleaha Pommer had 10. Valley was led by Soph. Meredith Rieker who had a game high 21 including 5 3’s. In the boys game the Dodgers would have a solid 1st half showing as they were tied with Valley at 15 after the 1st quarter and trailed 28-23 at the half. The game was a “tale of two halves” as Valley outscored the Dodgers 21-10 in the 3rd including a 15-6 run to open the 2nd half. Ty Kershaw led the Dodgers with 16 putting him in double figures 2 of the last 3 games. Valley would be led by 6ft6 Post Eli Raridon who the Dodgers had no answer for he poured in 24, Jack Auer added 18. The Doders are back in action Tuesday night hosting Waukee, The Dodgers look to avenge the Dec. 13th road sweep against them. St. Edmond  split with Eagle Grove on Monday as Eagle Grove took the girls game and The Gaels took the boys game. Eagle Grove’s Girls would win a defensive battle 36-29. St. Edmond trailed by just 3 at the half but couldn’t pull any closer. Leah Neverman led the Gaels with 10. Ariane Lyman and Hannah Sampson had 14 each for Eagle Grove. In the boys game St. Edmond would jump out to a 13-2 lead and cruise to a 67-25 win. Connor Bocken led The Gales with 20 points, Cael Kolacia added 13. Chase Mason led Eagle Grive with 11. The Gaels got off a 6 game losing skid with the win. St. Edmond will be back in action Thursday hosting Manson NW Webster a 6 PM scheduled start time for the Girls pregame show with the boys to follow on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website.

The South Central Calhoun will be back in action Tuesday on the road at Humboldt. The SCC Girls are on a 3 game win streak and come in 10-2 on the season. The Titans Girls look to keep the momentum going and hope that the “law firm” of Korleski, Mckinney and Batta continue their offensive output. The boys game features a really nice match up of 1,2 scoring punches as Zane Neubaum and Brennan Holder from SCC match up with Jamison Heinz and Sam Fischer of Humboldt. Neubaum scored 76 points in the Titans 3 games last week and Holder was tremendous as well scoring 22 in their last game. For Humboldt Jamison Heinz is a multi-sport star with tremendous athletic ability he has announced he will play football at Iowa next year. Sam Fischer had a game high 17 for Humboldt in a won over St. Edmond on January 3rd.
