HS Hoop Report: Dodger Girls Roll Saturday, Boys Fall In 4th, Gaels & Titans Both In Action Monday

Fort Dodge Basketball was in action over the weekend, as they hosted Hoover on Saturday. The Dodger Girls rolled to a 71-25 win. Fort Dodge started strong as they led 22-8 after the 1st and 55-17 at half. The Dodger full court pressure had a huge impact forcing over 30 turnovers in the game. Fort Dodge had five players in double figures. Tory Bennett led the way with 14 points but had a great floor game as well with 8 assists and 9 steals, nearly getting a triple-double. Aleaha Pommer and Jalen Adams had 11 each, TK Doster a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Ellie White had a season high 10.

The Dodge Boys fell 61-46, Fort Dodge hung tough for 3 quarters but the fourth was the difference. The game was tied at 39 after three, Hoover outscored Fort Dodge 22-7 in the final frame to win it. Dodgers got a team high 12 from Averey Martin, Drake Callon had 8 points and 6 boards. The Dodger games that were scheduled for Monday hosting Marshalltown have been cancelled due to covid-19 issues within the Marshalltown programs. Fort Dodge is scheduled to host Des Moines- East Tuesday Night. Those games will air on 92.1 FM and here on our website.

In a Monday match up, St. Edmond will travel to take on Iowa Falls-Alden. The St. Edmond Girls are rested and ready after playing just one game last week. They had their Thursday game at Pocahontas Area postponed due to snow, Friday Clear Lake didn’t travel their girls due to covid-19 issues in their program. St. Edmond Girls have some momentum after a getting a win and completing the season sweep of Webster City last Tuesday 48-45. The St. Edmond Boys did play Friday Night against Clear Lake. The Gaels fell short 65-53 in a gusty, hard fought effort. The Gaels trailed 9-0 in the first 2 minutes and trailed by 12 after the 1st. They would rail by as many as 20 in the game. They kept scratching and clawing all night, as they would cut the lead to 7 on multiple occasions in the 2nd half. That was as close as they come as Clear Lake would answer each time. Gaels lost to a Clear Lake team that only has 1 loss on the season, is now on a 14 game win streak and is ranked in the top 10. Both St. Edmond teams will look to salvage a season split with Iowa Falls- Alden, games will air on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on the website tip off at 6:15 PM.

South Central Calhoun is in action on Monday taking on Pocahontas Area. Titan Girls and Boys are coming off losses at Spencer on Saturday. Titans played back-to- back Friday and Saturday. South Central Calhoun swept Manson NW Webster on Friday. Titans Girls and Boys both took 2 out of their 3 games last week. As the Girls downed SE Valley on Tuesday behind a smothering defensive performance allowing just 12 points in the 2nd half. Riley Batta had over 20 in both the Southeast valley and Manson NW Webster wins. Titan Boys got a win on Friday by 20 plus and had a 1 point win on a buzzer beater by Joe Clark last Tuesday over SE Valley. South Central Calhoun at Pocahontas Area will air on 105-9 “The Beach” and here on the website.
