HS Hoop Report For 1-6: Dodgers Swept By Ames, SCC Splits On Road

After a hiatus for the holidays, it was back to business for area basketball programs on Tuesday night. In games heard on “92 Rock” and here on our website, Fort Dodge was swept at home by Ames. Dodger girls fell 55-51 in a hard fought, four quarter game. Fort Dodge implemented more full court pressure than they have shown all season and that created some havoc early for Ames. Dodgers outscored Ames 18-13 in the 2nd quarter to lead 28-22 at the break. Ames would adjust and come out hot to open the second half. The Little Cyclones took the 3rd quarter 18-6 and lead 40-34 after the 3rd. Dodgers outscored Ames 11-4 down the stretch and never went away, but could never get over the hump. Tory Bennett led Fort Dodge with a team high 25, Jalen Adams added . It was a little too much Caroline Waite and Ashley Liams for Ames though as the duo combined for 47 of their team’s 55 points. Waite had a game high 28 and Liams had 19. In the Boys game, Fort Dodge had no answer for the top 10 ranked Ames squad falling 56-31. Ames controlled the game after opening the game on a 15-2 run. Ames built a 30-7 halftime lead on their way to the win. Dodgers turned it over 20 times in the game and Ames was able to capitalize. Avery Martin led Fort Dodge with 12, Bo Tracy had a season high 6 off the bench. D-1 Prospect Tamin Lipsey led Ames with a game high 15 points. Lipsey played a little more than half of the due to the large Ames lead, he shot 7 of 11 from the floor and dished out 8 assists.

On 105-9 “The Beach” South Central Calhoun earned a split at OABCIG. The Titan Girls got a come from behind win 56-45. Titans trailed 25-19 at the half but would outscore OABCIG 35-20 in the 2nd half to win it.  SCC was good from the foul line going 8 of 12, free throw shooting has been a minor issue for them at times this season but wasn’t Tuesday.  Kylee Schliesman led the way with 14 for South Central Calhoun. In the boys game, The Titans fell 70-49. OABCIG build a 9 point lead at the half and build on the lead in the 2nd half outscoring SCC 38-26 in the 2nd half. Cole Corey had a team high 14 for South Central Calhoun. Cooper Dejean had a game high 26 for OABCIG.
