Every coach in high school basketball around the country will tell you that the season comes down to what teams do in February. The hope for coaches is for their team to be hitting its stride in February and ride that momentum to the state tournament early March. Thursday February 13th kicked off the playoffs around the state for girls teams. The St. Edmond Gaels fell in the 1st round at Storm Lake-St. Mary’s 56-29. The Gaels didn’t help themselves as they got off to a slow start and turned the ball over 23 times in the game. St. Edmond trailed at the half 25-7 as SLSM scored several 1st half transition buckets on turnovers. The Gaels would be held without a field goal until the 3rd quarter. The Panthers would have 3 players in double figures led by a game high 23 from Danika Demers. Cambrie Mcbride led the Gaels with 10 and Leah Neverman added 8, with the loss the St. Edmond girls conclude their season.

The Fort Dodge Dodgers will be in action Friday night. They will take the show back on the road to battle rival Mason City. The Dodger boys played without Dayson Clayton Tuesday night as he also is fighting illness and will also be a game time decision.
