The South Central Calhoun And St. Edmond boys teams both had playoff wins on Thursday night. They both will advance to play next week. South Central Calhoun had a big 2nd half outscoring Alta-Auerlia 45-28 after the break. They led by 7 at the half but would pull away in the 2nd half in route to a 79-55 win. 4 Titans in double figures including Zane Neubaum with a game high 23, Cole Corey with 20, Brennan Holder with 17 and Landon Schleisman with 14. The Titans have won 14 of their last 15. SCC advances to the 2A District Title Game to take on Southeast Valley. That game will be on Tuesday Feb. 25th a 7 PM tip off at Manson NW Webster, Brian Peters will have the call of that one on 105.9 “The Beach”. The Titans have lost just 4 games this season but one of those losses came at Southeast Valley 68-58 on Dec. 16th. SCC took the return game from Southeast Valley February 4th 92-61. The “rubber match” will mean a trip to Sub-State for one team and the end of the road for the other.
The St. Edmond Gaels with a win over GTRA 61-31 at Bishop Garrigan on Thursday. The Gaels with a tremendous defensive performance especially in the 1st half as they held GTRA to just 13 points going into the break. Drew Schaeffer led the Gaels with a game high 16 knocking down a trio of 3’s. St. Edmond will be at Bishop Garrigan on Tuesday 2-25 for an 8 PM tip. Greg Woods will be on the call of the game on “Sunny” 99.7 Bishop Garrigan comes in 19-2 after beating Storm Lake- St. Mary’s Thursday 43-28. The two teams met on Dec. 2nd with Bishop Garrigan beating the Gaels 66-35.
