Humboldt Boys Fall To Clear Lake In Bid For State

Algona marked the site of a 3A Regional Final game on Tuesday Night. As Humboldt and Clear Lake squared off for the 3rd time this season. The two North Central Conference rivals met for a trip to the 2021 Iowa Boys State Tournament next week. Clear Lake was in control all night and was able to take the rubber match 64-48 to punch their ticket to State.

A slow start plagued Humboldt as Clear Lake built a 39-23 lead at the half. Guard Carson Toebe as he normally does, set the the tone for Clear Lake. Toebe had 11 in the first quarter on his way to a game high 28. Teammate Andrew Formanek had a double-double, 13 points and 10 boards.

For Humboldt Will Orness had a team high 17 and Gabe Gidel added 10. With the win, Clear Lake improves to 22-2 advances to State next week. The loss marks the end of the season for Humboldt, they finish 15-8 on the season.
