Humboldt Football Coach Derrick Elman Talks Playoff Win & Turnaround Season
Humboldt Head Coach Derrick Elman has a positive outlook and approach. With that it is easy to see why his players believe i n him and each other. Humboldt had their first home playoff game since 2014 Friday Night . The “renaissance” of Humboldt football continues after a 40-17 win over Bishop Heelan Friday Night in the 1st round of the playoffs. The Wildcats are now 5-3 in Elman’s 3rd season eclipsing the combined win total in his 1st two seasons. Humboldt Caden Matson had a monster game vs Heelan with 373 total yards of offense and threw 3 TD passes. WR Gabe Gidel had 4 catches for 146 yards and 2 TD’s. Coach Elman joined Rob Jones Saturday Morning on the “Hy-Vee Fort Dodge Coaches Corner” on “Sunny” 99.7.
