Humboldt Woman With Breast Cancer Shares Her Story of Hope and Healing

Five months ago, a very healthy 43 year old Jen Kirchhoff of Humboldt went in for a mammogram after a friend talked her into it.

“In October my manager talked me into it and I had breast cancer. They said it would have been way too far gone if I would have waited until I could feel it,” she said

Kirchoff said after she found out her diagnosis she spent a lot of time wanting to be alone.

“When you are initially diagnosed it is very scary,” she said.

20 years ago Kirchhoff said her diagnosis would have been a death sentence. Today she is thankful to the women who have come before her.

She says being surrounded by support is how she has been able to get through this.

As a local mother and daughter, Jess Johnson and Jordan Messerly, face their own battles with cancer Kirchhoff says she knows there will be a lot of support for them.
