The State Track and Field Championships are set to begin Thursday and run through Saturday. The IHSAA has now announced that Drake Stadium can now allow a capacity crowd, after originally announcing limited attendance. Several area athletes are set to compete for State Gold.

Fort Dodge will send its 4X100 relay group. Tyler Schreier is in the 100, Jon Astor in the discuss, Sawyer Springer shot put, boys shuttle hurdle group and sprint medley group. The Dodger girls 4X100 relay group has qualified along with Aleaha Pommer in the 200.

St. Edmond qualified Andee Barwin for the 400, Caroline Shelly in the 800, Emma Alstott 400 hurdles, Aubrey Bemrich in the 800 and 1500, and Michaela Leiting in the 1500. St. Edmond’s Girls also qualified in the 4×400, 4×400, and the distance medley. St. Edmond’s Boys are in the 4×100, 4×200,4×400, 4×800 and sprint medley. Kase Baker qualified in the 200.

Southeast Valley’s Kiersten Fisher will be in 4 events, the 100, 100 hurdles, high jump and long jump. Cooper Nuss is in the 1600 and 3200, Oscar hanson also is in the 1600. sam hanson is set to compete in the 110 hurdles and long jump, Tre Fisher is also in the long jump. Kaleb Scott is set to go in the high jump.
