A man from Mexico was in the U.S. illegally has been sentenced in Federal Court in Sioux City. 30 year old, Oscar Pena-Solis has been sentenced to federal prison on drugs and weapons charges. In Sept., he entered guilty pleas to conspiracy to distribute meth, possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of a firearm during drug trafficking and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Evidence shown at his plea hearing, stated he was stopped near Sioux City in July 2020. He did not have a drivers license and was in the country illegally. A search turned up a handgun and 11 pounds of meth. Further evidence indicated, Pena-Solis was bringing the meth to Iowa from California, to distribute it in Sioux City and Des Moines. Pena-Solis was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
