Iowa Central Dominant In Season Opening Win

Iowa Central Football was dominant in their season opening win routing Southern Shreveport 52-0, Saturday at Dodger Stadium. The Tritons got on the board in the 1st quarter and led 7-0 after one. They would explode for 24 points in the 2nd, thanks to three Southern Shreveport turnovers. Iowa Central took a commanding 31-0 lead into the halftime locker room.

The Iowa Central defense was stellar forcing four turnovers and holding Southern Shreveport to just 76 total yards of offense. Freshman D-End Deonte Bryant had 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. Sophomore LB Bryant Farrier had two sacks on the day.

On the offensive side of the ball, both Byron Jarrett and UNC-Charlotte transfer Brady Pope saw time at QB. Jarrett got the start and had two TD passes and a TD run. Pope had two total TD’s, one in the air and one on the ground.

Air Force transfer WR Madison Ridgeway had two TD catches in his 1st career game at Iowa Central. Desna Washington had a 31 yard TD catch. Jadon Washington had 68 rushing yards and a TD run.

Iowa Central is 1-0 they’ll host Iowa Western this Saturday at Dodger Stadium for a noon kickoff.
