Iowa Central Football will hold it’s “Blue & White” Game 2 PM Saturday at Dodger Stadium. This game is being touted as a “Spring Game in the Fall”. Normally the “Blue & White” game would be in the Spring but with NJCAA moving the regular season to the Spring of 2021, the game is moved to the Fall. It will be the 1st time in action at Dodger Stadium and the 1st time Triton Football has been in front of spectators since last season. Iowa Central is coming off a 7-6 season in 2019 in which they played one of the nation’s toughest Juco schedules. The Tritons captured the ICCAC Conference Title and won a bowl game, beating ranked Opponent Nassau (NY) in the Graphic Edge Bowl. QB Demarcus (DJ) Irons is back to lead the offense after throwing for over 2,000 yards last season for Iowa Central while missing time with injuries. Irons is out of Grayson High School near Atlanta which is a powerhouse in Georgia High School Football. He was named the ICCAC Offensive Player Of The Year was a NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American. Irons will have mostly new weapons on the offense to work with this year which is standard for Juco football as players only spend 2 years there max. The Offensive Line does bring back several Sophomores who played significant snaps last season to help protect Irons. That group may well be lead by Richard Rodriguez who started as a Freshman last year, he’s an Iowa Native who goes 6 ft 4 and well over 300 pounds. Iowa Central under Coach Jesse Montalto has produced several players who are currently at the D-1 college level. You can find former Tritons on the field currently at Auburn, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Kansas, and Charlotte just to name a few.
