Iowa Central Hosts Iowa Western In Top 10 Showdown Saturday

It’ll be a showdown of two nationally ranked teams on Saturday, when Iowa Central Football hosts Iowa Western. The Tritons are 1-0 coming off a 52-0 route of Southern Shreveport. The Tritons moved up one spot after their impressive performance in week 1. They’ll take the field Saturday ranked 5th in the NJCAA.

Iowa Western is 0-1, after losing a nailbiter 31-30 to ranked opponent Snow College last week. Western was ranked #2 in the preseason poll, but the loss dropped them to the #9 spot this week.

The last time these two instate rivals met was August of 2019, when Iowa Central won a thriller 28-26. That win propelled Iowa Central to the ICCAC Conference Title.

The Reivers have a Freshman at QB in Nate Glantz, who will be making just his 2nd start against an Iowa Central defense that allowed just 76 yards total in week 1. Glantz says his pre-snap reads will be critical.

Here’s Iowa Western Scott Strohmeier on Saturday’s game.

The Tritons and Reivers will kick things off at high noon Saturday from Dodger Stadium.
