Iowa Central Men Win National Cross Country Team Title, Bungei Wins Individual Title

Kelvin Bungei paced Iowa Central Saturday in their National Title win at Lakeside Golf Course here in Fort Dodge. Bungei took 1st place individually outrunning the 2nd place finisher by 13 seconds. The Triton Men finished 26 points ahead in the team standings of 2nd place Southern Idaho. Iowa Central had 3 others finish in the top 17 giving them a total of four in that group. Pur Biel finished 13th, Hunter Klimek was 14th and Noah Frieske was 17th. Bungei became just the 2nd male runner in Iowa Central history to win the national title. He and Biel both earned NJCAA All American honors.

The Iowa Central Women’s team was the odds on on favorite to win their side of the National Meet. However, they were unable to compete due to being on covid-19 related quarantine. The Triton Women had won back to back National Titles coming into this season.
