A student athlete at Iowa Central Community College has been killed in a shooting in Iowa Central President Dr. Dan Kinney confirmed the tragic news through a statement on the school’s website Thursday. That statement is below

“We come to you with sad and difficult news. Early this morning we learned one of our students was the victim of a shooting in Chicago, Illinois. Jacquice Baylock, a sophomore WR  on the Iowa Central Football team was killed in the incident.Any time we lose a student it is a sad occasion, but it is particularly difficult to lose a student through such a senseless act. Jacquice has been a great example and representative of our Triton Football program and Iowa Central Community College. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this most difficult time. Please keep his family, friends and teammates in your thoughts and prayers.”

While Dr. Kinney’s statement says Baylock was killed in Chicago, Baylock’s family and friends have stated he was killed in Gary, Indiana about 30 miles east of Chicago.
