Iowa Central Women Punch Ticket To Nationals

Iowa Central Women’s Basketball has punched their ticket to National for the 1st time in 8 years. Head Brian Ortmeier has the program to the NJCAA national tournament in his 1st season at the helm. It’s the first trip to Nationals for Ortmeier in his career.

The Tritons took the Regional Title after downing 17th ranked DMACC on the road 85-66 on Saturday. Iowa Central led by 6 at the half. They took control in the 2nd half, outscoring DMACC 50-37 after the break.

Four Tritons were in double figures in the game. Murray State recruit, Isabell West led the way with a game high 28. Freshman Nevaeh Galloway added 23. Jordan Engbrecht had 13 of her 14 in the 2nd half and Freshman Guard Carly West added a baker’s dozen.

Isabell West was named MVP of the Regional Tournament, Galloway and Freshman Autumn Dykstra garnered All Tournament honors.

The Triton women will now advance to the NJCAA National Title Tournament. That event will be held April 20-24th at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, North Carolina.
