Iowa Knocked Out By Oregon 95-80

In a game heard on “Iowa’s Favorite Country” K97, #2 seed Iowa fell to #7 seed Oregon 95-80 on Monday. The game was competitive early but Oregon closed the first half  on a 10-0 run to led 56-46 at the break. Oregon then opened the 2nd half on a 12-5 run to lead by 14. They would lead by as many as 20 in the 2nd half.

Oregon’s athletic ability was on display as they used dribble penetration to get open looks. That was the catalyst to their red hot shooting day, hitting 56% overall and 44% from 3 point range. Iowa was just 8 of 25 from downtown in the game.

Oregon had 4 players in double figures led by a team high 23 from Chris Duarte, L.J. Figueroa had 21 points and 7 boards. For Iowa, Joe Weiskamp had 17 points, 6 boards and 5 assists. Luka Garza had a monster game in a losing effort with a game high 36 points, he also grabbed 9 boards.

Garza finishes as Iowa’s all time leading scorer and just one of three players to ever win the Big Ten Player Of The Year Award twice in a career. Iowa concludes their season with a record of 22-9.
