“Iron Sharpens Iron” FD Softball Gets Win vs #3 ADM In Regular Season Finale

The 2001 schedule for Fort Dodge Softball has been a brutal one. The Dodgers have taken on ranked teams all throughout the season. Coach Andi Adams deliberately created a schedule that would put her team in uncomfortable situations to get them ready for the postseason. The regular season finale was no different, as Fort Dodge took on 3rd ranked ADM. That game was a late addition to the schedule too, which is an example of the “iron sharpens iron” mindset Coach Adams has in scheduling.

The Dodgers got a win 1-0 and calling that game a “pitchers duel” is an understatement. Fort Dodge Pitcher Jalen Adams and ADM’s Aliya Yanga put on a show. Yanga allowed just one hit, as TK Doster tripled in the 4th and later scored the only run of the game. “J-Bo” allowed just two hits and struck out 11 to get her 20th win of the season.

The Dodgers are now 3-2 in one run games on the season. The ADM game was one where Fort Dodge had to execute with a “razor thin” margin of error and they did just that. That is the mindset of a coach who understands what it will take to secure the “big gold trophy” at the end of the season.

The Dodgers start their “Journey To The State Tourney” on Saturday night. They’ll host the Regional Semifinals at Rogers Park. You can hear the game on 92.1 FM ” 92Rock” and here on our website.
