Earlier this week,J.D. Scholten, candidate for Iowa’s 4th congressional district,  donated items for the holiday season to Impact Community Partnership  which serves low-income families in central Iowa. The organization provides energy, food, disaster, and housing assistance as well as connects families with other resources in the community. Last year alone, IMPACT served 18,903 families in central Iowa.

J.D. Scholten said: “In rural Iowa, like most of rural America, our population is generally older, sicker, and poorer than folks in urban areas. We also face a shortage of access to quality and affordable services like hospitals and clinics, grocery stores, housing, and employment centers — putting further burdens on our rural communities. That’s why it’s so critical for IMPACT’s work to lift up our most vulnerable in efforts to eliminate poverty. I’m grateful that our campaign could help shine a light on their incredible, tireless work and help address these systemic issues.”

Scholten continues his Don’t Forget About Us tour, hosting town halls in towns of less than 1,000 people. Scholten spoke in Hancock and Kossuth counties this week as part of that tour.
