JuneTeenth Celebration Saturday Promotes Togetherness In Fort Dodge

A JuneTeenth Celebration was held at Meriwether Park in Fort Dodge on Saturday. The event served as an opportunity, for people of all walks to come together to celebrate the occasion. Rob Jones was on hand at the event and he spoke with one of the event organizers Zac Nuzum.

Nuzum says, that events like this not only help to promote unity in the present, but also helps to strengthen that for future generations.

JuneTeenth has now been recognized as a federal holiday and Fort Dodge Mayor Matt Bemrich has made a proclamation to recognize it as well.

Fort Dodge NAACP President, Sherry Washington and AFES Director Charles Clayton, along with Nuzum organized the event. The JuneTeenth Celebration also featured the presentation of awards to leaders in the community.
