Main Street Fort Dodge Set to Welcome New Bookstore

(Alpha Media- Brooke Bickford) A new store that will bring fantasy and the joy of reading to life is set to open in downtown Fort Dodge.

The Green Dragon Bookshop will be located at 9 North 11th Street and it’s owner, CoriAnn Theroux said her focus will be sci fi fantasy books for all ages.
“Syfi can kinda ground them in science and fantasy can teach them to fly,” she said. It can also teach them that there are outlets for that imagination as well. Whether it’s writing, creating movies, poetry, art.”

She said she has been dreaming of opening a bookstore for 20 years.
“My mom would always take me and my cousin to bookstores growing up and so I’ve always wanted to open a bookstore but the opportunity never came up. Recently I started thinking that I’d really like to go back to this idea now that people are kinda feeling nostalgic for the written word rather than the digital one.”

Grand opening for the Green Dragon Bookshop is set for June 1st and Theroux said she will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am until 7pm.

She will be located next to Yummy Crumb Bakery at 11 North 11th Street.

That bakery is open on a pop up schedule with online ordering,

The building has been undergoing some major renovations since it was purchased by Tom and Addrea Groff for $25,000 in November of 2019.
