Man Taken Into Custody By FD Police After Standoff

A man has been taken into custody after a standoff with the Fort Dodge Police over the weekend. The man has been identified by police as Christopher Smith. He faces multiple charges, police say their were warrants for his arrest issued prior to the incident. The standoff occurred in the 1300 Block of 3rd Ave NW here in Fort Dodge. According to Police Capt. Ryan Gruenberg the suspect had himself barricaded in a bedroom at the residence. Officers eventually deployed a chemical into the room forcing Smith out. After he jumped out of a bedroom window police were able to take him into custody. A gas line was knocked loose during the process.
