Man Who Escaped Sac County Jail Arrested In Pottawattamie County

The man who was at large after escaping from the Sac County Jail last week has been apprehended. 25 year old Lake View Resident Shawn Freier was arrested by the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday Night at a resident in Walnut, Iowa about 75 miles from Sac County Jail. Freier and 35 year old Joseph Sly of Rockwell City escaped last Friday after forcing a corrections officer into a cell. They then demanded a custodian open the door to the outside. Sly was apprehended last Saturday Morning in Sac City. The two men now are facing charges of escape from custody, assault while committing a felony and assault on persons in a certain occupation.
