Manhunt Ongoing For Suspect That Shot A Deputy In Linn County

A manhunt is underway for a suspect that shot a Linn County deputy on Sunday night. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says, a deputy responded to an alarm at the Casey’s Store in Coggon, around 10:20 PM on Sunday.

The Deputy was met by an armed man , who shot him multiple times and then fled the scene. The identity of the suspect had not been determined as of the time of this report.

The Deputy was seriously injured and was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital to be treated.

The suspect fled the scene in a van headed north. The van was spotted by another deputy from Linn County who pursued the vehicle. The suspect vehicle crashed and he then got out and ran on foot.

Various Law Enforcement agencies are continuing the search for the suspect.

The name of the deputy who was shot has not yet been released.
