28 year old Moorland resident Tanner Lowe was sentenced to over 6 years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm. Lowe was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District in Sioux City. He pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon in December of 2019. In December of 2018 police found a stolen sawed off shotgun after executing a search warrant. Lowe was previously convicted in Webster County District Court of intimidation with a dangerous weapon which made him ineligible to legally possess a firearm. He was sentenced to 77 months in federal prison, there is no parole in the federal system. Lowe will also have a 3 year term of supervised release after he serves his sentence. He is in U.S. Marshall’s custody until transferred to federal prison.
