Dick Jungers is the leader of what is one Iowa’s preeminent girls basketball programs. While the community is small in population, Newell-Fonda is fully on board with their program. Last season, they edged Bishop Garrigan to take the State Title. This year they fell in the regular season to Bishop Garrigan and it broke a winning streak of over 40 games. Since that loss, Newell-Fonda has recharged and has handled all of their opponents with relative ease. Coach Jungers spoke with Rob Jones about how his program bounced back from that loss, the incredible community support and player “buy in” they have as well. Coach talked how their offensive philosophy is one that encourages ball movement and a “we not me” mentality. That conversation is below.
