(Alpha Media – Brooke Bickford) SkyWest Airlines which operates flights out of the Fort Dodge Regional Airport has filed a notice of intent to reduce frequency in essential air service in several markets including Fort Dodge.

The notice was filed February 2nd before the Department of Transportation Office of the Secretary in Washington DC.

In it, SkyWest stated that they would reduce the frequency of air service in several locations from 12 to 10 weekly.

The reduction from 12 to 10 flight affects about 15 markets including Fort Dodge and Mason City.

In a few other markets, SkyWest reduced its flights even further from 12 to 7 round trip per week.

SkyWest sites staffing imbalance caused by Covid-19 have forced them to scale back flight.

United Express is run by SkyWest and just started offering flights from Fort Dodge to Denver in October of 2021.
