Otho Man Gets Plea Deal & Avoids Jail Time On Arson & Burglary Charges

The Fort Dodge Messenger reports, that a Webster County man will avoid jail time on charges stemming from breaking into and setting a fire inside a business. 33 year old, Ryan Tanner Johnson was given a plea deal relating to a February incident at the Otho Store.

The Messenger reported that Johnson set fire to the store’s kitchen floor causing minimal damage. As part of the deal, he entered guilty pleas on charges of 3rd degree burglary and 2nd degree arson.

Johnson was given suspended prison sentences on both charges and sentenced to three years probation on each charge.

If Johnson violates the probation he would face consecutive sentences of 5 and 10 years.
