The girls basketball playoffs began Thursday Feb. 13th for the small school classes. The playoffs began in full swing though on Monday night with boys games around the state in 1A and 2A.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys got a 75-30 win over Eagle Grove Monday night they will advance to play at Osage on Feb. 20th at 6:30 PM. East Sac County boys eliminated Manson NW Webster 75-45 they play Southeast Valley at South Central Calhoun at 6:30 PM on 2-20. Alta-Aurelia boys knocked off OABCIG 60-49 they will play South Central Calhoun on 2-20 at 8 PM. Pocahontas Area boys were eliminated by Sheldon 70-56. Belmond-Klemme was eliminated by Garner-Hayfield-Ventura 70-56.South Hamilton cruised past Union 62-40 on Monday night they will play South Hardin at Aplington-Parkersburg on 2-20 at 6 :30 PM.
The Manson NW Webster Girls defeated Alta- Aurelia 50-48 on Saturday they play at Emmetsburg on Tuesday 2-18 at 7 PM. Belmond-Klemme Girls defeated Eagle Grove Saturday 61-37 they will play at West Hancock Tues. 2-18 at 7 PM.
The Alpha Media Fort Dodge stations will have the following playoff line up this week.
Tuesday Feb. 18th on “105-9 The Beach” – South Central Calhoun Girls at Clarion-Goldfield- Dows tip off at 7 PM. The winner of this game will play West hancock on the road on Friday 2-21 at 7 PM. This is one of the most anticipated match ups in 2 A girls in the early rounds. SCC Girls come in 13-6 having won their last 3 in a row. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is 14-5 on the year and has won 5 of their last 6. CGD Coach Adam Vorrie says the key for his team against South Central Calhoun will be balanced scoring.
Thursday Feb. 20th (On 105-9 The Beach) – South Central Calhoun Boys hosts Alta-Aurelia for an 8 Pm tip off. SCC has won 13 of their last 14 coming into the playoffs. With a win SCC would advance to the district title game on 2-25 at Manson-NW Webster against the winner of Southeast Valley and East Sac County. The only loss for South Central Calhoun since Dec. 16th came at the hands of East Sac County last Tuesday 79-77.
Thursday Feb. 20th on “92 Rock” The St. Edmond Boys take on GTRA at Bishop Garrigan on Thursday 2-20 a 6:30 PM tip off. The Gaels game will air on “92 Rock” on Thursday due to the state wrestling tournament airing on “Sunny” 99.7. St. Edmond has won their of their last 4 coming into the playoffs and they are fresh off a 69-52 road win at Paton Churdan on Friday.
The Fort Dodge Girls will play Saturday 2-22 at 6PM on the road against Waukee. The Dodger girls have 3 of their last 4 but were swept in the regular season by Waukee. That game will air on “92 Rock”.
The Fort Dodge Boys will play in the 1st round of the playoffs Monday 2-24 they will play Sioux City West on the road at 7 PM. They play Tuesday Feb. 18th in a boys only regular season finale hosting Ankeny Centenial a 7:45 PM tip off on “92 Rock”.
