Police And Fire Personnel Rescue Woman From Ames Railroad Bridge Thursday

Police and Fire Dept. personnel stepped in and safely resolved a situation that could’ve been fatal. A woman was rescued in Ames early Thursday morning. Union Pacific Railroad personnel called the Ames PD regarding a woman who was outside of the railing of a railroad bridge.

In a press release, the Ames PD says when they arrived they found a distraught woman  holding on to the railing. Officers grabbed the woman to keep her from dropping to the railroad tracks below. The Fire Dept. was called to the scene to help with the rescue. They used a ladder truck to bring the woman and Police officers to the ground without incident.

The name of the woman has not been released. The Ames PD says she was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.
