Police Chase Spanning Multiple Counties Ended In Webster County Friday

A Friday afternoon police chase that spanned multiple counties ended in Webster County Friday afternoon. Nickolas Downs of Carroll was arrested after he led police on a chase that started in Carroll County and reached speeds of up to 100 MPH.

According to the incident report, Downs was driving so reckless that the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office discontinued the chase. A short time later, Calhoun County Deputies picked up the chase. The Iowa State Patrol and Webster County Sheriff’s Office also were involved.

Trooper Paul Gardner from the Iowa State Patrol says the chase ended when a trooper executed a “pit maneuver” on The vehicle Downs was driving at 140th and Hwy 169 in Webster County.

Police say, Downs was wanted on warrants out of Carroll County for domestic abuse and contempt of court.

Additional Charges from the Friday incident are pending. No injuries were reported in the incident.
