Police Pursuit in Webster County Ends in Crash and Arrest of Lake City man
According to a press release from the Fort Dodge Police Department, Dylan Pederson was arrested following the chase that began at Casey’s on 2nd Avenue North and ended on the north side of Soldier
Creek. On Thursday, March 2nd, at approximately 4:43 A.M., the Webster County
Telecommunications Center received a call of a male passed out in the front seat of his vehicle
in the Caseys parking lot located at 2206 2nd Ave N. Officers with the Fort Dodge Police
Department responded to the scene to conduct a welfare check on the male.
When officers arrived on scene, they approached and did find a male appearing to be
unconscious in the front driver’s seat of the vehicle. Officers did attempt to speak with the
male and check on his condition. In doing so, the driver did finally wake up, and he looked at
one of the officers before putting the vehicle in gear and driving off going north bound on 2nd
Ave N. Officers pursued and observed the driver operating the vehicle in an erratic manner,
while also committing numerous traffic offenses, and nearly striking several vehicles. The
pursuit continued through the northeast side of Fort Dodge and eventually led out into the
county driving north on N 32nd St. The driver eventually drove off road in the area of 160th St
and Paragon Ave continuing north bound. The pursuit came to an end when the vehicle
crashed on the north side of Soldier Creek. Officers made contact with the driver who was
conscious, alert, and breathing. The Fort Dodge Fire Department as well as the Badger Fire
Department responded to the scene and provided medical attention to the driver. The driver
of the vehicle was transported by ambulance to Unity Point E.R. for multiple injuries that did
not appear life threatening.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Dylan Pedersen of Lake City and his
condition at the time of this press release is unknown. Officers with the Fort Dodge Police
Department Patrol division along with the Iowa State Patrol continue to investigate this
incident.
