Preparing for Tornadoes and Severe Weather Following a Scary Weekend in Eastern Iowa

As we enter a severe weather season, how can we best be prepared for a worse case scenario?

Director of the Webster County Emergency Management Agency Dylan Haggen says by signing up for Alert Iowa.

When it comes to being prepared, he suggests having a supply kit that includes food and water for at least three days per person, batteries, flashlights, a weather radio and medications.

He wants to remind people that when the tornado siren sounds it isn’t meant to wake people up, it is to make sure people who are outside seek shelter immediately.

Before traveling make sure to check how the weather will be so you aren’t stuck in a bad situation. For the latest weather updates go to weather.gov.
