Prestage Plant Murder Suspect Ruled Mentally Incompetent

Lukouks Brown, a Webster County man charged with 1st degree murder has been ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial. Brown is accused of the February Murder of Fort Dodge resident Wayne Smith. Smith was found dead at the Prestage Plant in Eagle Grove, that both men worked at.
26 year old Brown, has a history of mental illness and at one time had been in a facility due to being schizophrenic. A judge in Wright County has ordered the suspension remain on all proceedings in Brown’s case until he he’s found competent to stand trial.
Brown’s initial mental evaluation concluded that his mental health issues were keeping him from being able to adequately assist in his own defense.
Brown is slated to be held in custody in Wright County, until he can be transferred to another facility to begin the process of restoring his mental competency.
