“Renaissance Season” For Humboldt Football Continues In 2nd Round Of Playoffs

The “renaissance season” for Humboldt Football continues after a win last week 40-17 over Bishop Heelan to open the playoffs. It was the first career playoff win for Humboldt Head Coach Derrick Elman. This Friday Humboldt travels to take on Spencer and their option run attack in the 2nd round. Coach Elman says down and distance will be critical for his defense on Friday.

Last week Humboldt ran for 183 yards and averaging of 4.5 per carry, the offensive line led the way.

Humboldt QB Caden “Mad Dog” Matson threw for over 230 yards and 3 TD’s , two of those went to WR Gabe Gidel. Coach Elman says his skill position players are hitting their stride at the right time.

Even in a shortened season Humboldt could get to 6 wins if they beat Spencer Friday, a mark that hasn’t been achieved by the program since 2014.
