Round Ball Round Up – Area High School Teams Open Season
Several Central Iowa area high school teams had their season openers last night. The Alpha Media Fort Dode family of stations had 3 games on the agenda last night. The South Central Calhoun girls and boys opened their season sweeping both games at Audubon. The SCC girls a 46-39 winner outscoring Audubon 13-8 in the 3rd after leading just 21-20 at the half. The SCC boys a 61-39 road win at Audubon. Titans led just 29-25 at the half but outscored Audubon 32-14 after the break. 2 Titans in double figures including Zane Neubalm with 15 and Cole Corey with 12. The Fort Dodge Dodgers were in boys only action to open last night. The Dodgers a home win 61-59 over Indianola. Dodger Senior Guard Tysen Kershaw was tremendous he had 25 points and 4 steals. Kershaw had the team’s final 8 points in crunch time including this play with under a minute left to put Fort Dodge up for good.
Dodgers would have 8 players score in the game, Monterius Abrams-Altman added 11 points including 3 made 3 pointers. Fort Dodge would win the battle of bench scoring 17-9. Indianola was led by Forward Caden Rehmeier with 20 and Guard A.J. Toigo with 17.
Both the girls and boys for St. Edmond fell at home to Bishop Garrigan. The St Edmond girls fell 85-18 as Bishop Garrigan’s Freshman “Phenom” Audi Crooks led all scorers with 24. BG would open the game on a 26-6 run and never look back. St. Edmond would struggle to score managing just 3 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters combined. The St. Edmond boys fell 66-35 to Bishop Garrigan. Gaels were outscored 37-21 in the 2nd half , as Bishop Garrigan would pull away late.
