Webster County Public Health has announced that all 400 of the available spots it had for Saturday’s vaccine clinc, filled up just 4 minutes after becoming available earlier this week. Public health says around 10,000 people in the Webster County are eligible for the vaccine under Phase 1B, and they only received 400 doses for the public this week. They received 600 in all, but 200 were allocated to teachers and first responders. Once the appointments were made available, thousands of people were logged into the Public Health website and calling to get through on the phone all at the same time.
Hy-Vee of Fort Dodge has begun administering the vaccine. Public Health says if you have an appointment with Hy-Vee, the please do not book one with them. Public Health asks if you have an appointment with both, to call WCPH and cancel. Public Health doesn’t want people to hold two appointments due to the very limited numbers of appointments and doses of the vaccine.
