Softball And Baseball Area Report From Monday Night

Monday night marked opening night for softball and baseball season around Iowa with several area teams in action. St. Edmond Baseball opened with a 3-1 win over Humboldt. Starting Pitcher Cael Kolacia and Emanuel Perry teamed up to throw a no hitter for St. Edmond. Kolacia earned the win striking out 11 along the way, Perry got the save and had a two run single. John Nemmers scored the first run of the night for St. Edmond. Jacob Thurm started on the mound for Humboldt he struck out 11 while scattering three hits. St. Edmond baseball travels to take on North Union Tuesday Night for a 7:30 PM first pitch.

In softball, St. Edmond fell to the 2nd ranked Humboldt Wildcats 11-0. Ellie Jacobson was the wiining pitcher for Humboldt allowing just two hits and struck out 11 along the way. She also was 3-4 at the plate with 3 RBI’s. Humboldt Junior Kendall Clark had a two run homer in the 1st. St. Edmond Softball is back in action Wednesday night at Harlan Rogers hosting Iowa Falls-Alden.

Elsewhere around the area, Southeast valley softball a winner 14-0 over Pocahontas Area, giving  Sheridan Gealow a win in her varsity head coaching debut. The 8th ranked Pocahontas Area baseball team downed Southeast valley 14-0. Algona baseball edged Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 4-2. Cameren Rindone got the win going 5 and 2/3 innings allowing just 2 runs on 1 hit while striking out 13, he also had 2 RBI’s at the plate.  Top 10 ranked Algona Softball a 12-0 winner over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. Webster City Softball a 10-3 winner over Hampton-Dumont-Cal. Newell-Fonda downed East Sac County 14-3 in softball. Newell-Fonda Baseball a 4-1 winner over East Sac County.
