South Central Calhoun Boys Looking To Make A Statement In Their 1st Ever Trip To State

There’s an old saying that goes “you never get a second chance to make a first impression”. South Central Calhoun Boys Basketball will be on display on Iowa’s biggest stage for the 1st time on Monday night. Many around Iowa, will come away from Monday night’s game with their 1st impression of Titan Basketball.  The Titans have an opportunity to open their 1st trip to Wells Fargo Arena with a statement win as they face Boyden-Hull , the #1 team in Class 2A.

The Titans have won 5 of their last 6 games and they are battle tested after a tough playoff road. SCC punched their ticket to Des Moines with playoff wins over South Hamilton, Roland-Story, and Iowa-Falls Alden. The Titans have turned it up on the defensive end in the postseason, as they are allowing just barely over 50 points per which is down from their season average.

Some around the Iowa basketball landscape, feel South Central Calhoun was slighted some in drawing the 8 seed. They will face #1 Boyden Hull in the State Quarterfinals. The Comets are undefeated on the season and are winning by an average of 23 points per game.

Boyden-Hull features a 1,2 punch of Marcus Kelderman and Tanner Te Slaa who average just under 40 points per game combined. The Titans will counter that with three players who average double figures. Brennan Holder leads the way at 16.5, Josh Dietrich adds 14 points and 8 boards per contest, and Cole Corey averages nearly 14 points and over 4 assists per.
