South Central Calhoun Standout Named To All State Basketball Team

South Central Calhoun Senior basketball standout Zane Neubaum was named to the All State Team in 2A. Neubaum garnered 2nd team honors after leading SCC and the Twin Lakes Conference in scoring at over 25 per game. The Titans went 19-5 won the Twin Lakes Conference and made a deep run in the playoffs before being ousted by West Sioux in the Substate Finals. Neubaum finished in the top 10 in the state in scoring while shooting nearly 39% from 3 point range.

Other area players joined Neubaum as All State selections as well. Bishop Garrigan Junior Post Angelo Winkel was named to the 1st team in 1A. Winkel averaged a double-double on the season at 18.7 points per game and 10 rebounds. Winkel was a major factor in Bishop Garrigan’s run to the 1A State Runner Up finish. Algona Senior Wyatt Wegener was named to the 2nd team in 3A. Wegener averaged 17 points per game, 6 rebounds per, shot 39% from 3 point range, and averaged 3 assists per game. Norwalk’s Bowen Born was named Iowa’s Mr. Basketball after leading the state in scoring at over 36 points per game. Born has signed with UNI and led Norwalk to the State Title in 3A.
