St. Edmond Baseball and Fort Dodge Softball Both Cruise In Playoff Openers
Monday night was packed with playoff action for area teams. St. Edmond Baseball led off Alpha Media Sports playoff coverage on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website. The Gaels downed Harris-Lake Park 14-0 in 4 innings.
St. Edmond took control early hanging a 10 spot in the first frame. Their 10 run explosion was capped by this.
Brian peters on the call of the John Nemmers two run blast. The Gaels would add three in the 2nd and one in the fourth to cruise to the win. Tyler Mcdowell and Cael Kolacia both saw time on the hill, they combined for a 4 inning no hitter. Devin Wirtz had two hits and drove in three. Grant Heldorfer was two for three, with a triple and 2 RBI’s.
St. Edmond advances to the 2nd round Tuesday night. That game will be a 7 PM 1st Pitch, Brian Peters will have the call on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website.
On 92 Rock, 2nd ranked Fort Dodge Softball wasted no time. The Dodgers made quick work of Sioux City North winning 12-0 in 4 innings. Fort Dodge scratched across four in the 1st, thanks in large part to a two run triple from Martyne Lowrey.
Dodgers led 4-0 after the first and Jalen Adams led off the 2nd.
Adams with the solo homer, Fort Dodge scored two more times in the 2nd. They would get three in the 3rd and two in the 4th to win by mercy rule. Adams had a walkoff RBI Sac Fly to score Sophia Klinger to end it. Lowrey had two hits, drove in a pair and scored twice. Sophia Klinger with two hits, reached base three times and scored twice. Adams was masterful in the circle , she threw 4 innings of perfect ball striking out 7 along the way. It was the 21 win in the circle for Adams on the Season.

Dodgers have won 14 in a row, 11 by mercy rule. Fort Dodge is on a streak of 11 straight games in which they haven’t allowed a run. Fort Dodge hosts Sioux City East Tuesday with a trip to State on the line in the Regional Finals. That game is set for a 7 PM 1st pitch and you can catch all the action on 92.1 and hereon our website.
