St. Edmond Gets Road Sweep At Webster City

Monday Night, St. Edmond got a road sweep at Webster City in games heard on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website. The girls game would be a back and forth affair, with the game being tied 8 different times. The game was knotted up at 29-29 when St. Edmond’s Leah Johnson went to the foul line with 4 seconds left.

KC Meiners on the call of the Johnson free throw that put that Gaels up 30-29. Webster City would have one final shot in the closing seconds.

Gael Girls would hang on to win 30-29 and snap a 29 game losing streak that dated back to 2019. It’s the 1st win of the season and the 1st under new Head Coach C.J. Tracy.

The boys game was high drama as well, as St. Edmond come back after being down 7-0 to open the game. The Gaels got back to back 3’s late in the 4th from Anthony Lacina to keep pace. St. Edmond went up for good on a Drew Schaeffer bucket with under a minute left in the game. Quinten McCarville knocked down a pair of free throws down the stretch to ice the 52-49 win for St. Edmond. Webster City’s Tyler Olson and Ty Mckinney had 19 each. Drew Schaeffer led St. Edmond with 17, Jackson Palmer had 11 and Hayden Mayer had 9.
