The St. Edmond Girls Cross Country team won the North Central Conference Title Tuesday in Clear Lake at the conference meet. It’s the 1st conference title in over a decade for the St. Edmond girls program, and is the 2nd under Head Coach Mike Szalat. St. Edmond had 5 runners in the top 15 in the meet. Audrey Bemrich paced them finishing 5th, Michaela Leiting was 6th, Hannah Landwehr 8th, Reese Lemberg 9th and Carolina Shelly was 15th. The Gaels outran much larger schools such as Algona, Humboldt and Webster City who finished 3rd, 4th, and 5th. On the boys side, Humboldt won the NCC Title and has now won it 3 years in a row. Humboldt’s Duo of Quinton Orr and Eric Wittrock finished 1st and 2nd. In the team standings, Webster City was 3rd, St. Edmond 4th, Algona 5th and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 8th. Aaron Lurson led St. Edmond with an 8th place individual finish, Grant Heldorfer finished 15th.
