(Alpha Media – Brooke Bickford) This Sunday you can bring out your inner food critic and have a little fun while helping a church youth group raise money for a much needed trip during Soup-Er Bowl at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
The event has been a great fundraiser in the past and gives people a chance to taste test soups and vote and donate to their favorite.
Jenene Friedrichs said a lot of things have been on hold for the youth group for the last couple of years.
“We’ve had some tragedies at St. Paul’s and then Covid came,” she said. “It’s pretty exciting to have of the kids back now.”
Friederichs said the money raised from the Soup-Er Bowl will be used to send the youth group to a national youth gathering in Texas in July. “We are sending 18 of our youth to that and maybe four chaperones going so we are trying to raise money quickly. Normally we would raise it slowly for a couple years but because things have been on hold for a couple years we have to do it now fast.”
This Sunday’s Soup-Er Bowl begins at 11:45 pm until 1:00 pm and if you can’t make it but want to help donate you can contact the St. Paul Church Office at 955-7285. There is also a gofund me set up. The link is below.
