Alpha Media Sports presents its coverage of the  Iowa State Wrestling Tournament starting Thursday February 20th at 9 AM. Veteran wrestling broadcasters Woody Wolfe and Sonny Rivera will have the call of the action in the Class 3A and 1A portions of the tournament. Class 3A will start things off Thursday at 9 AM and the 1st session is expected to run until about 12 PM. The 3A class features 11 wrestlers from Fort Dodge who qualified last Saturday by placing 1st or 2nd in the district tournament. Those 11 Dodgers are Max Bishop (106), Lane Cowell (113), Drake Ayala (120), Carson Taylor (126), Brooks Cowell (132), Drezyon Phillips (138), Brandon Mills (145), Kody Cook (152), Tucker Pederson (170), Austin Lee (182) and Levi Egli (195). The Dodgers took 3rd in the state dual tournament yesterday beating Waukee in the opening round, falling to Waverly-Shell Rock, and then routing North Scott in the 3rd place match.

The nightcap on Thursday is scheduled to run from 6 PM to 9 PM with Class 1A taking center stage. South Central Calhoun has 4 wrestlers in the 1A state tournament after they qualified at districts. Kevin King was a 2nd place finisher at districts (113), with Jordan Kommonyvong (138), Blake Mcalister ( 160) and Brian King (220) all winning district titles. The trio of Tyler Stein (113), Reed Abbas ( 145), and Garret Seaba (152) will represent Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in state. Seaba won the district title with Stein and Abbas both finishing 2nd. Donavon Hanson (106) and Connor Fehr (170) were 2nd place district finishers from West Bend- Mallard and qualified for state. The Eagle Drove duo of Mark Dawson (145) and Joel Mendoza (220) won district gold and will compete at state. John Schuttler (195) from Manson NW Webster had a 2nd place finish in the district tourney to qualify for state and Dane Johnson (285) from Pocahontas area won district gold to qualify. All of those young men are scheduled to be in action in the night session Thursday. The broadcast coverage will be only for the 3 A and 1 A portions of the tournament, their will not be coverage of the 2 A portion of the tournament.

Thursday Feb. 20th- 9 AM to 12 PM Class 3 A 1st round, 6 Pm – 9 PM Class 1 A 1st round.

Friday Feb. 21st-  9 AM to 1 PM Class 3 A Quarterfinals and 2nd round consolations. 2:30 PM to 5:45 PM Class 3 A Semifinals and Class 1 A Quarterfinals .8:45 PM to 10 PM Class 1 A semifinals and 3rd round consolations

Saturday Feb. 22nd  10 AM – 2:15 PM Class 3 A and Class 1 A Consolation Semifinals and Finals. 6 PM will be the Grand March and Finals for 3 A and 1 A.
