Summer Sports Season Can Resume

FOLLOWING AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS THAT THE SUMMER SPORTS SEASON CAN RESUME ON JUNE 1ST, THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION RELEASED THEIR REOPENING GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER SPORTS.  THE GUIDELINES ARE FOR BOTH PRACTICES AND GAMES AND ENFORCE SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS.  GUIDELINES FOR PRACTICES INCLUDE NOT USING DUGOUTS, REQUIRING PARENTS TO EITHER REMAIN IN THEIR CAR DURING PRACTICE OR UTILIZE DROP OFF AND PICK UP OF PLAYERS AND FOR COACHES TO SANITIZE SHARED EQUIPMENT BEFORE AND AFTER EACH PRACTICE. ANYONE WITH SYMPTOMS OF ILLNESS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.  THE GUIDELINES FURTHER ENCOURAGE PLAYERS TO BRING THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT WHEN POSSIBLE, INCLUDING GLOVES, HELMETS, AND BATS.  PLAYERS ARE ALSO ASKED TO BRING THEIR OWN HAND SANITIZER.  A FULL LIST OF THE NEW GUIDELINES IS AVAILABLE ON THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONS WEBSITE.
