The story of Coach Willie Williams is one of resilience and inspiration. In February of 2020, Williams suffered a debilitating stroke. He since has rehabbed vigirously and worked his way back to rejoining the coaching staffs for Dodger Football and Dodger Boys Basketball.
The Willie Williams comeback story now adds a new chapter. Williams has been named the new Head Coach of Fort Dodge Boys Basketball. The position became vacant after Tom Daniel resigned following this past season. Daniel led the program for over a decade and sits 2nd on the all time wins list in program history.
Williams has served as an Assistant to Daniel since 2014. He is an alumnus and former player at Fort Dodge Senior High. After graduating in 2011, Williams went on to play football at Iowa Central.
Williams is slated to make his debut as Head Coach in December when Fort Dodge opens the 2021-2022 season.
His story reminds us all again that “set back is nothing compared to the comeback”.
