Three In-State Teams Get Wins In Opening Round Of NAIA Football Playoffs

Three teams from Iowa got wins in the 1st round of the NAIA Football playoffs this past Saturday. #1 Morningside rolled to their 38th consecutive win, as they routed Carroll, Montana 55-0. The Mustangs rolled up over 550 yards of total offense and their defense forced five turnovers.

2nd ranked Grandview downed Dordt 38-10. The game was a one score game through 3 quarters, as Grandview led 17-10 after 3. The Vikings pulled away late scoring 41 in the 4th. Grandview held Dordt to just 115 yards passing on the day.

6 seed Northwestern cruised past Dickinson State (North Dakota) 31-7. Northwestern put the game away with two TD drives in the 3rd quarter. Northwestern had a balance offensive attack racking up over 500 total yards. QB Tyson Kooima accounted for 363 total yards, he had two TD runs and TD pass in the game.

In the Quarterfinals this weekend, Morningside hosts 7 seed Baker, Kansas who edged Olivet Nazarene in the opening round. #2 Grandview hosts #6 Northwestern in an instate showdown.
