Thursday Police Chase Ends With Crash In Fort Dodge

A Thursday evening police chase ended around 6 pm after a crash in Webster County. The pursuit started on Highway 20 in Hamilton County and continued until the driver crashed between 8th and 12th Streets in Fort Dodge. The suspect vehicle knocked down a power line in the crash. The Iowa State Patrol, Fort Dodge Police and Fort Dodge Fire Departments were all on scene at the crash. Trooper Paul Garner of the Iowa State Patrol, said that another trooper stopped a vehicle driven by 37 year old Nicholas Lee Shledon-Griffin of Fort Dodge for excessive speeding in Hamilton County. The trooper smelled an odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Before a search could be performed, Sheldon-Griffin fled and lead police on a pursuit that reached speeds of 114 MPH. He suffered minor injuries in the crash he was taken to a local hospital to be treated. Sheldon-Griffin is charged with multiple traffic violations, felony eluding, possession of meth and failure to affix a tax stamp. Police say. around 10 pounds of meth and $7,0000 cash were seized after a search.
