The South Central Calhoun titans hoped going in to their 6th quarterfinal appearance in 10 years that this year would be the year they would get over the hump. However, that was not meant to be as they fell at #1 ranked Van Meter 10-6 on Friday. South Central Calhoun’s lone score came on a Blake Mcalister TD run. The Titans would have their chances but couldn’t cash in as they were doomed by a blocked extra point, a missed FG right before the half and a dropped pass in the end zone in the 2nd half. South Central Calhoun finished the season as district champions with a record of 10-1. Coach Bryan Case said in the postgame that this loss was especially hard to handle because his team had chances in the game they were unable to cash in on.
